Checking In
Checking In at I Street Hostel To ensure a smooth arrival, please download the Goki App before you get here. You have two easy ways to check in:
In-Person (9 AM – 2 PM & 6 PM – 10 PM): Our friendly front desk team is here to personally welcome you and get you settled.
Self-Check-In (Anytime!): If you arrive during our mid-afternoon break or after 10 PM, our digital system has you covered.
How to Self-Check-In:
Remote Entry: Use the “Arrival” link in your confirmation email to check in before you even step off the train.
On-Site: Simply scan the QR code at our front door.
Instant Keys: Once your balance is settled (we automatically process payments on the morning of arrival), your digital keys will appear instantly in your Goki App.
Checking Out
Checking out is simple! With our Goki system you are automatically checked out of your space at 11:00AM so be sure to have your luggage and personal belongings removed.
Lockers and Luggage
At I Street Hostel, we make storage seamless. We use GOKI smart lockers, meaning the same app and code you use for your room will open your locker! Every room also features convenient luggage racks for easy access.
Pre-Check-in & Post-Check-out Storage: If you’ve arrived early or aren’t ready to leave the city just yet, take advantage of our secure luggage rooms on the second and third floors.
How to use: Simply ask our staff for the “code of the day.”
Easy Access: We will also provide a front-door access code so you can swing back and grab your gear effortlessly whenever you’re ready to head out.
Chinatown/Nearby Area/Convention Center
There physically isn’t a more central location in the District. At I Street Hostel, the city is your backyard. We put you within easy walking distance of Washington’s crown jewels: the National Mall, the Capitol building, and the world-renowned Smithsonian museums.
Transit and entertainment are just as close, with Union Station, the Convention Center, and Capital One Arena moments away. Forget the commute and immerse yourself in the local scene—our neighborhood is packed with the city’s top-rated dining and nightlife.
Parking
Because we are located in the absolute center of the city, traditional street parking can be limited. To make your arrival as smooth as possible, we highly recommend using the SpotHero app. It’s the easiest way to find and book discounted garage parking nearby!

We offer a range of events both paid and free for our guests. They can be found on the Goki App! Just scroll down to the bottom and you will see them listed.
Free Breakfast
We love hosting a free community breakfast every Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Join us in our fully equipped kitchen for fresh pancakes or waffles, savory sausages (subject to availability), and plenty of hot coffee and tea to fuel your DC adventures. We’ve got all the essentials ready for you—just bring your appetite!
U Street Capsule Hostel
Looking for more? Check out our Original U Street Location. If we’re fully booked at I Street, we’d love to host you at our flagship hostel at 1931 13th Street NW. Located in the heart of the historic U Street corridor, this location offers an expanded experience:
